How to Blur Screen Share on Zoom, Google Meet & Loom

Sharing dashboards or giving client presentations often risks exposing confidential emails, financial balances, and sensitive client PII. Here is how to blur sensitive elements before sharing your screen.

Ready to protect your screen share?

Install BlurMask for Chrome or Firefox and blur any text or element in 1 click.

Step-by-Step: Blurring Screen Share Sessions

Step 1: Install the BlurMask Browser Extension

Add BlurMask to Chrome, Firefox, Brave, or Edge. No user account setup or cloud sign-in is required.

Step 2: Press Alt + B to Enter Blur Mode

Open the web dashboard or tab you plan to share during your meeting. Press Alt + B (or click the BlurMask toolbar icon) to activate precision point-and-click blur mode.

Step 3: Click Any Confidential Text or Drag a Blur Region

Click on customer email addresses, revenue numbers, credit cards, or user names. Alternatively, drag a rectangular selection box over entire sections of the screen to redact them.

Step 4: Start Your Zoom or Google Meet Screen Share

Share your browser window on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, or Loom. Because the blur is rendered locally on the page DOM, the screen recorder only ever captures the blurred pixels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does BlurMask work with OBS Studio and Loom?
Yes, BlurMask works seamlessly with any screen recorder or live streaming tool (Loom, OBS, Twitch, Zoom, Teams, Meet) because it alters the live web page appearance.

What pricing options are available?
BlurMask offers a Free Starter tier with up to 7 manual blurs per page. You can upgrade to Lifetime Pro ($20 one-time) for unlimited blurs and automated Smart PII detection.

Can I blur my screen in Microsoft Teams too?
Yes. The blur lives on the web page itself, so any tool that shares your screen or window — Teams, Webex, Slack huddles, or Discord — captures the blurred pixels exactly like Zoom or Meet.
