Privacy Policy

Short version
BlurMask collects no user data. It has no analytics, no accounts, no telemetry, and it communicates with no servers. Everything you do with it stays entirely on your computer.
What the extension stores, and where
- Your blur selections, presets, and settings — stored locally in your browser using its built-in extension storage (
chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device and is automatically removed when uninstalling the extension. - Your license key (Pro) — stored locally so Pro features stay activated offline. It is never transmitted to any third party.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not read, record, or transmit the content of web pages you visit.
- We do not track browsing history, clicks, or usage events.
- We do not use analytics or third-party trackers.
- We do not create accounts or user profiles.
Payments (Pro)
Purchases are securely processed by our payment provider (Polar). Your license key is delivered by email. Payment details are handled entirely by the provider under their privacy policy — BlurMask never sees or stores your card information. The only data associated with your purchase is what the payment provider needs (typically your email address and order reference).
Permissions explanation
- Read and change data on all sites: required so you can blur content on any webpage you choose. BlurMask only modifies pages in response to your explicit actions and applies CSS blur styling — it does not send page content anywhere.
- Storage: saves your blurs, presets, settings, and license state locally on your machine.
- Context menus: adds the right-click "Blur Selected Text" and "Toggle Blur Inspector" shortcuts.
Terms of Service & License Terms
By downloading, installing, or using BlurMask, you agree to these Terms of Service:
- License Grant: BlurMask grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the extension. The Free Starter tier permits manual blurring of up to 7 elements per page. The Lifetime Pro tier grants unlimited element blurring, Smart PII auto-detection, and persistent preset saving across all your devices for a single one-time payment.
- Acceptable Use: You agree to use BlurMask in compliance with all applicable local, national, and international laws. BlurMask is intended for privacy preservation during screen shares, video recordings, and live demonstrations.
- Limitation of Liability: BlurMask is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. BlurMask shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use the extension.
Security Policy & Data Isolation
BlurMask is engineered with a local-first security architecture designed for maximum privacy:
- 100% Sandbox Execution: All DOM inspection, element selection, and CSS blurring operations run exclusively inside your local browser tab sandbox.
- Zero Remote Servers: No page DOM snippets, text contents, or input values are ever sent to remote APIs or cloud models.
- Local Offline Key Verification: Pro license verification is cryptographically performed offline in your extension storage without tracking telemetry.
Cookie Policy
BlurMask uses zero tracking cookies, zero analytics cookies, and zero advertising cookies on our extension or website. We do not store cookie identifiers on your browser.
30-Day Refund Policy
We stand behind BlurMask with a 100% money-back guarantee for 30 full days from the date of purchase. If BlurMask does not satisfy your workflow needs for any reason, email us at adamlawcce@gmail.com with your order number, and we will process a full refund promptly with no questions asked.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the change will be described here and in the extension's store listing before it takes effect.
